XENIA CHAMBER ENSEMBLE FLORENCE CONCERT
MONDAY 5 AUGUST 2024 – VILLA BARDINI
Xenia Ensemble is happy to announce a new three-year project, to be initiated this year (2024), whereby a selected group of students and teachers from the Xenia Chamber Music course will perform a concert in Florence immediately after the Course.
The concert this year will take place on Monday 5 August 2024 in the suggestive surroundings of Villa Bardini, against the backdrop of Florence’s most famous landmarks, notably Brunelleschi’s Cathedral Dome.
The first part of the event at 17.00 will offer a musical promenade through the famous English garden in the Villa’s splendid grounds. Here small student chamber groups will play at various intervals and in different selected spots during a short walk around the garden, finishing with a piece for orchestra.
At 18.00 there is on offer an aperitif inside the Villa Bardini, followed by the main concert of the event at 18.45, where students will perform on the main Terrace by the Villa more chamber and orchestral works, several with the participation of some of the teachers.
The project has been made possible due to the initiative and generous support of the AFFM Foundation (American Friends of Florence Music) and happily coincides with a new partnership with two renowned American musicians , Anthea Kreston (violin) and Jason Duckles (cello) who bring to the course a group of 11 students from Oregon, USA. The other students participating in the concert come from Holland, Italy, Ukraine, Ireland, Spain, Lithuania and Palestine.
The concert is held in memory of James Fox Miller, the late president of the AFFM.
The concerts and refreshments are offered to the public free of charge.
